The closest airport from San Sebastian is called Hondarribia (in Basque) or Fuenterrabia (in Spanish) Airport. It’s located on the border between Spain and France; where the Pyrenees meet the Gulf of Biscay.

The bus is the cheapest way to go from Hondarribia Airport (EAS) to the city of San Sebastian. The bus company that covers the service between Hondarribia and San Sebastian is called EkialdeBus and the bus stop is just on the right side of the building as you exit the airport doors (“Parada A”). You will be able to buy your tickets directly on the bus (remember to bring some cash).
During the summer season (from the 20th of June to the 30th of September), the E30 Bus Line provides direct daily buses from Hondarribia Airport to San Sebastian. The frequency of the buses is every hour starting from 7:35AM and the bus takes 30 minutes to reach San Sebastian.

Frequency: Every hour (starting from 7:35h. Last service 20:20h), parada A. The E30 Bus Line service is available only from the 20th of June to the 30th of September.

During the rest of the year, the E21 Bus Line covers the service between Fuenterrabia/Hondarribia and San Sebastian. Starting from 6:55 AM from Hondarribia Airport, the frequency is about every 45 minutes and it takes approximately 45 minutes to get to San Sebastian (stops at Plaza Gipuzkoa). Before arriving into San Sebastian, the bus makes a couple of stops in the town of Hondarribia. Additionally, during the summer season (June 20th to September 30th) the bus stop is located outside of the airport (on the main road) named as “Parada B”.

Probably the easiest way to go from Hondarribia Airport to San Sebastian is by taking a taxi. You will find a line of taxis at the taxi stop waiting for you once you get out from the airport. Unfortunately, depending on the arrival time and the season, there may not be enough taxis to fulfil the demand of transfers to San Sebastian. Additionally, in the case that you might need a minivan (for groups larger than 2 people) for your transfer to San Sebastian, it might be better to make arrangements with a taxi driver prior to your arrival and book your vehicle in advance, due to the limited number of minivans.
