The Camino along vineyards: the txakoli route

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Burn off those yummy pintxos and numerous drinks that you’ve been enjoying in San Sebastian with a morning of leisurely activity and beautiful vineyard views while hiking along a small section of the Northern Way of The Camino. As locals do, we will take the local train to the little town of Orio, where we will begin the hike. Located just 20 minutes from San Sebastian, Orio is known for its long fishing tradition, great seafood restaurants, and for being the place where the last whale of the Basque Country was caught in the beginning of the XXth century.

With the Bay of Biscay as our backdrop, we will make an easy hike westward along endless Txakoli vineyards overlooking the sea, passing through the towns of Orio and Zarautz and arriving into Getaria. The hike will be packed with incredible coastal and vineyard views, as well as with wonderful photo ops.

After about 2.5 hours of hiking, we will arrive in Getaria and it will be time for a treat in one of the several delicious seafood restaurants of this popular fishermen’s town. We will head back to San Sebastian after lunch by public transportation.
