Escape the busy bustle of San Sebastian and head to the mountains for a quiet day trip into nature to this iconic Basque Mountain. Located just about 30 minutes from San Sebastian, we will drive towards the base of Mount Hernio to begin the hike to its summit full of towering crosses.
During the trail you will get the chance to admire the beautiful green scenery of the Basque Countryside, and, if clear weather accompanies us, take a peek at the Bay of Biscay.
On the way down from the summit, we will stop at a local farmhouse to enjoy a well-deserved rustic lunch before heading back to San Sebastian. Hernio Mountain is a moderate hike, suitable for most audiences, and one you can’t miss if you love mountains.
