The beautiful border city of Hondarribia–Fuenterrabia, between Spain and France, is our first stop on our Côté Basque tour. From its port, we will admire views of the French side of Basque Country and witness some of the fishing traditions of the village. After a short stroll through the picturesque District of La Marina, also known for its pintxos bars and colorful buildings, we will head towards the city’s ancient old quarter, sheltered between medieval walls.

We will cross the Bidasoa River to head into the French side of the Basque Country and visit Hendaye, the most southwesterly French town, renown for its houses of neo-Basque style and its extensive beach that provides sights to unique natural rock formations.

We will continue our tour through the coastal road to reach the beautiful city of Saint Jean de Luz, a fishing port village on the Basque Coast. After seeing its port and the Church of St. John The Baptiste, we will take a stroll through its famous pedestrian streets full of small local shops and continue our route of the Côté Basque.

We will head to the city of Biarritz. This former whaling town was a meeting point for European aristocracy in the XIX century, and today remains an important tourist destination thanks to its luxurious Hôtel du Palais, its casinos, extensive beaches, and surfing scene.
